Product Review

The Timex Midsize/Unisex Ironman OVA Watch is a tough timepiece designed to withstand a tough triathlon--and all the training that goes with it. Constructed with a lightweight resin case, the watch includes a stationary metal bezel and a black resin wristband with an adjustable buckle clasp. A durable mineral window shields the large red-shaded digital-gray dial face, which displays time as well as the day and date. Four black and red buttons decorate the bezel and include mode, set/recall, Indiglo, and stop/reset functions. A prominent red start/lap button rests above the 12 o'clock position. This athletic timepiece is powered by digital-quartz movement and is water resistant to 330 feet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Timex OVA - great running watch, December 2, 2005

I recently bought a Timex OVA (optimal viewing angle) watch. I bought it as a replacement for my old Nike Triax watch, which inexplicably stop functioning correctly. After comparing several different watches, including the new Nike Triax watch, I was impressed at the lightweight of the OVA; I can't even tell when it's on my wrist. Also the OVA comes in large- and mid-size versions, which is very important for many runners like myself that have thin wrists. The viewing angle makes looking at your watch slightly easier while running versus the conventional angle. Furthermore, the placement of the buttons is the best on any watch I have ever owned or tried; the start/lap button is literally fool proof and very easy to find without having to look down! The indiglo night feature works the same as many new sport watches, by lighting the numbers rather than the screen, which works very well at night. The memory feature gives lap times, total time, best time, average lap time and also...Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars watch is great but watch band is terrible, February 8, 2009
Art (California) - See all my reviews
The Timex OVA watches are great, but unfortunately the watch band is not adequate. It is badly designed and it will break - almost guaranteed- within 6 months of just normal use. Since the band is molded into the watch structure itself, you can't replace it. Timex has a repair site in Arkansas that will replace the band for $10. Maybe that sounds like a good deal, but this has happened to me four times! Timex should change the design and do away with the flimsy resin watch band. I'm about ready to trade in my [[ASIN:B000I85IU6 Timex Ironman Triathlon 75-Lap Sleek OVA Watch T5E461] for another sport watch.

2.0 out of 5 stars Band Will Break (100% of the time), April 13, 2009

I have the smaller model and have returned 5 of these to timex for replacement. They replace the entire watch because the band is integral to the watch. I get 6 - 10 months/watch. I ended up buying another one so that I have a ready replacement. Today I got my replacement for my black watch. They exchanged it for a baby blue model with a dead battery! I'll call them tomorrow.
I love the watch otherwise, especially the stop watch and alarm (daily, weekend only, week days only, etc.)
