First -- I can see how this band might not outlive a Redwood, but it's not something to panic over, as another reviewer here seems to have done. In fact, I did my "due diligence," went to Timex's website, and clicked on their official store link to try to see if new bands were available. I didn't see the band for this watch. So, I fired off an email to Timex to ask this question -- if this band can't be replaced, the watch needs to be returned, so are replacement bands available? Here's the response I got in UNDER TWO HOURS: "Thank you for your inquiry. You can call us at 1-800-448-4639 to order a replacement band for your watch. The cost will be $8.00-$12.00, plus any applicable tax. Please have your watch with you when you call. In short, it keeps excellent time, and has all of the standard, features found in Timex's sport series: (stop watch timer, multiple alarms and time zones, waterproof, etc.). As an avid trail runner and hiker, I was curious to see if the compass was accurate and reliable enough to serve on day trips and bushwhacking trail runs. The answer: definitely not! The compass works, but needs frequent re-calibration. Maybe it's from all the jostling, but the compass goes out of calibration several times during a single day trip or trail run. It's not too difficult to re-calibrate, but I definitely would not want to rely on it. You would seriously be better off with one of those tiny compasses designed to be placed on the end of your zipper pull. The band did cosmetically deteriorate quickly (cracks around the strap holes), but structurally, it still works...Read more 6 of 6 people found the following review helpful: By Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Timex Men's T42761 Expedition Adventure Tech Digital Compass Watch (Watch) THIS IS MY THIRD T42761 TIMEX. THE FIRST WORKED GREAT BUT THE BAND GOT FRIZZY AND LOOKED TERRIBLE.
I THOUGHT THIS WAS A FLAW SO I PURCHASED ANOTHER. SAME THING HAPPENED TO THE BAND. I LOVE THE RUGGEDNESS AND FUNCTION OF THE WATCH SO I CONTINUED TO WEAR IT. THEN I FOUND OUT TIMEX HAD HAD NUMBEROUS COMPLAINTS AND CHANGED THE BAND TO AN ALL LEATHER ONE. GOOD MOVE! I ORDERED A THIRD TIMEX AND THE WATCH AND BAND ARE HOLDING UP GREAT. |
