I'm a huge fan of my Timex "Digital Expedition Chrono Alarm Timer Watch", but occasionally having a compass would be handy. And indeed, the compass on this watch works pretty well. But I'll probably never wear the thing, because it's so poorly designed as a watch.
The buttons are large. I don't much care for them, but they might be nice for someone with limited dexterity. The ridiculous movable ring has no real purpose, makes the watch more bulky, and makes the wearer look stupid. OK, I'm being picky and if these were the watch's only flaws I'd be happy with it.
I just can't understand putting such a pathetic user interface on this watch. My other Timex watch has "+" and "-" buttons for setting the time, timer, and alarm. But not this watch. If you want a 1 minute timer but it was previously set to 2 minutes, you have to cycle through 99 minutes to get back to 1. And your only option is integer minutes, 1 through 99.

I thought this watch was what I was looking for and yep, I was completely in the right track until I went with him on my first trip just 1 week after I got it. I was in the hotel washing my hands with hot water, obviously the hot water covered the watch, then it got suddenly hotter and unbearable, I pulled my wrist immediately out and then just regulated the temperature with more cold water... some hours after that I saw that the watch suffered the hot water impact right beneath the main cristal face, melting the plastic part near the indiglo button, I was so, so sad, so dissapointed as I don't know how many times I exposed my regular $10 50mts Casio watch on water that was even hotter and for long exposure times, termal volcano water springs and so on... and it did suffer not a single thing, not even the rubber bands got melting spots! I'm still using the watch as is completely functional except for the underwater feature, although I'm looking forward to get something different...Read more

This is a great watch for the outdoor person. I would recommend though that you buy a different band, it is sorta cheesey. I bought a wrap around band to go along this watch. Both compliment each other. It has great instructions for the watch.
