i bought this watch when i starting running about 6 months ago. the watch was perfect. the buttons and functions are designed just right. the display is just the right size for seeing when on the run and the functions work easily even when i'm breathing heavy. i particularly like the ability to store lap times. 4 weeks ago the battery died in it and i took it in to have the battery changed. the watch didn't work properly after the battery change so i sent it into timex service. they sent me a new one. the service was great.

4.0 out of 5 stars Simple, easy, almost perfect, March 9, 2007

I generally train with my Polar heart rate monitor, but needed a smaller, lighter watch to wear while swimming (I find the Polar bulky for swimming and the transmitter won't stay on anyway!).

This watch suits my needs nearly perfectly. It has a nice big display, the ability to store plenty of laps, two alarms, a countdown timer. It's light and comfortable. It's also very easy to use - I don't think you should have to read the instruction manual for a simple watch, and you shouldn't have to with this one.

My main complaint is that the start/lap button (the one in the middle below the display) isn't that responsive. Probably half the time I have to push it more than once or really concentrate on making sure it's pushed. This is never a huge deal, but is a bit of a hassle. I guess the trade off might be a larger button, which I wouldn't want. My only other complaint is that in stopwatch mode, the current lap shows up in the small, upper display and the total...Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Can't get replacement band, but Timex replaces whole watch, September 25, 2011

I really like the watch, but the strap has worn out on 2 of these watches in the last 5 years, so I'm on my third watch. Because you can't replace the strap, if you contact their customer service ([...]), they'll tell you send $10 and the broken watch back to them and they'll "replace the band". Since you can't just replace the band on this watch, they'll send you a brand new watch for your $10. Total cost is around $13 after you send it in the mail, but that's not bad for a new watch. Yes, its an inconvenience to have to do this every couple of years, but I really like the watch--its not too big and not too small, so I'll keep doing this until they stop sending me new watches every time the band breaks!
