Seiko Men's SKX007K Diver's Automatic Watch

My uncle had been wearing the Seiko SKX007 (although his may be a different model number) since the early 80s. I was a little kid back then and I may not have consciously noticed his watch, But his watch must have left some impact, because I've always been partial to divers watches, and currently own several. These include two quartz Bulovas, one quartz Swatch, and most recently an automatic Omega Seamaster Professional (the James Bond model). The Bulovas were OK, the Swatch is a piece of garbage, and the Omega is just a delight to own.

And yet, none of these ever seemed to match my mind's idealized image of what a divers watch should be.

A short time after buying the Omega, I came across the Seiko on some watch aficionado website. This is a heavy, well made watch that I wear all the time. I never have to set it because it is fully automatic.I liked the Seiko SKX007 model so well that I bought another diving watch from Seiko, the SKX009 model. I can depend on these watches because I work outside in all types of weather. Also, the bands are made of heavy duty rubber. A real tough watch. I bought my first Seiko in 1969. It was an automatic that ran for 23 YEARS, before it stopped. Took it to a Seiko dealer, who fixed it and it is still running today.

Prospective buyers should beware that when purchased from Mr. Watch this watch is a gray market watch and will not include a box, manual, manufacturer's warranty, or any proof of authenticity. I have done my best to verify that what I received was genuine and everything seems correct, but the watch itself came in a plastic bag shoved in a non-branded box and a "warranty" certificate from Mr. Watch, not Seiko. Given the frequency of fakes these days buyers who care about making sure their product is genuine probably want to look elsewhere.
