This review is from: Jacques Lemans Men's GU223C Geneve Collection Automatic Watch (Watch) I've had this watch for 4 months. Overall appearance and wrist presence is quite striking. Fit and finish are remarkably good. Of all my watches, arguably the best bezel; gloriously smooth to operate, but won't budge on its own. The movement ( the oft-maligned Claro-Semag CL-888) is OK also. With the aid of a TimeGrapher I've managed to regulate accuracy to a consistent -2/+1 seconds a day with a beat error of 0.0ms (!) in 3 positions. To dispel any doubt as to the origin of the innards, it is certainly a Chinese ebauche that has been reworked in Switzerland with the addition of critical Swiss-made parts (mainspring and balance wheel). The band is comfortable & very well-made, no hint of cheapness in an area in which so many watches in this price range fail miserably. Inexplicably, a butterfly clasp is employed on what purports to be a diver's watch...(?) The band's links are composed of 2 sizes, allowing a somewhat finer sizing to one's wrist. It runs perfectly and is absolutely stunning! I cannot say enough about it, but is so beautiful, heavy and the quality of the workmanship is amazing. I don't know what the problem was for that putz who also reviewed this watch, but I love it and will treasure it always! I notice that you cannot find any in stock right now, so I guess I was not the only one who bought at special holiday prices! Lucky us and all I can say is, look hard and find one and you will not be disappointed!
Note: After wearing it day and night for the last week, it has lost maybe 10 seconds in the whole week, the other reviewer must have gotten a lemon, cause this one is sweet. I have a friend with a rolex and it gains a minute a week and that is common with Automatic...Read more 0 of 1 people found the following review helpful: By Rookie13 "Rookie13" (Massachusetts) - See all my reviews This review is from: Jacques Lemans Men's GU223C Geneve Collection Automatic Watch (Watch) As I write this my watch has been returned for the SECOND time in six months for repairs. Within the first month of purchase it was returned because it was gaining 2-3 minutes a day. Now, it is back in the repair shop because it is losing time. Very disappointed in this watch. It looks great - but I have had inexpensive watches that have kept better time. I would have a hard time recommending this timepiece. |
