Amazon.com Product Description
With its large face and unique skeleton window, the Invicta Men's Signature Collection Corduba Automatic Skeleton Watch adds sharp style to your casual wardrobe. Constructed with a black ion-plated stainless steel case, the watch includes a stationary black ion-plated stainless steel bezel and a black techno wristband that's secured with an adjustable buckle clasp. A strong mineral crystal shields the fresh white dial, which is dominated by a gear-revealing window. The face also includes silver-and-white hour markers, slim minute indexes, and Arabic numerals that mark the time in five-minute increments. Featuring Japanese-automatic movement, the timepiece is water resistant to 660 feet (200 m).

Automatic Watches

Automatic watches do not operate on batteries. Automatic watches are made up of about 130 or more parts that work together to tell time. Automatic movements mark the passage of time by a series of gear mechanisms, and are wound by the movement of your wrist as you wear it. The gear train then transmits the power to the escapement, which distributes the impulses, turning the balance wheel. The balance wheel is the time regulating organ of a mechanical watch, which vibrates on a spiral hairspring. Lengthening or shortening the balance spring makes the balance wheel go faster or slower to advance or retard the watch. The travel of the balance wheel from one extreme to the other and back again is called oscillation. Lastly, automatic movements come in different types, including movements that are Swiss-made, Japanese-made, and more.

Also referred to as self-winding, watches with automatic movements utilize kinetic energy, the swinging of your arm, to provide energy to an oscillating rotor to keep the watch ticking. They're considered more satisfying to watch collectors (horologists) because of the engineering artistry that goes into the hundreds of parts that make up the movement. If you do not wear an automatic watch consistently (for about 8 to 12 hours a day), you can keep the watch powered with a watch winder (a great gift for collectors).

5.0 out of 5 stars this watch is f-ing awesome!!!!, August 27, 2009

this timepiece is incredible. it's huge and heavy. but it looks so refined. the black and white combination looks really elegant. and the skeletonized automatic gives it an industrial modern look. also the craftsmanship is flawless. mies van der rohe said "god is in the details" and this watch has them. from the skeleton dial. to the luminous hour markers. the hands. the invicta logo on the seconds hand. every little detail makes it look even awesomer. its looks much more expesive than the price you are paying for it. it even look more expensive than $560 factory price tag it comes with. if you are looking for that special watch, look no further. this is the one.

I just received this watch today and I must say it is beautiful. Even better looking in person. The strap is very comfortable. I was a little skeptical of the quality of Invicta, but I am skeptical no more. The watch has so many little details, looking at it is a treat to the eyes. Looks and feels much more expensive than $199. If you are looking for a larger face watch (52mm) this would be a great choice.
