Comment: The watch was just as good as I had hoped. It is accurate and the fact it will not need a battery change was one of the reasons for choosing it.

First of all, the watch looks really good. It's definitely a watch for a graduate's first job or a night out to a nice restaurant.

The watch is powered by the sun. Our graduate appreciated that fact, as he will generally not spend $15 to get a new battery. He has a number
of watches with dead batteries.

The only minor (very minor) complaint would be the band, that is brown but it's just a little over the top in terms of it's striped look. I have this same band on
another watch and it gets worn looking after a few months.

Hopefully our graduate will replace the band when it's worn, rather than replace the watch.

All in all, this is a GREAT gift or even a purchase for yourself.

My understanding is the battery in these watches are good for 20+ years, but by then who knows if anyone will be wearing watches any more.

This is a great gift. You could pay a lot more and not get a better, more practical watch than this.

Comment: I bought this watch on 4-18-10. The band is more a reddish brown, not brown as the amazon.com description says. Now a month later the band is already showing wear in the buckle area. The back of the watch says it is water resistant. The amazon.com description says it has a water depth of 330 ft. ---- good enough for swimming. Water resistant, according to the booklet the watch came with, can only have water splashed on it like rain water or from washing your face. You cannot swim with a watch that is only water resistant. I like the look of the watch and the eco-drive factor. The second hand does not hit exactly on the dial markings; it hits in-between.

I decided to replace this watch with another one. The process with Amazon was very convenient and satisfactory. They sent me a replacement in 2 days and I sent the old one back to them. The new watch's second hand hits correctly on the dial markers. I'm afraid the watch strap will again show wear before its time, but I'm willing to live with that because I really like this watch. I guess I'll use some shoe polish when I have to.

Comment: This is a beautiful basic watch with all of the features I wanted including solar power, day, and date. The size is perfect for my smallish wrist. It's comfortable to wear. Unfortunately, the leather strap it comes with is causing bad skin irritation. I read about another reviewer's (who reviewed the black and silver version of this watch) comment on the same problem and didn't believe it until it happened to me, too. I wore it just one day and I had a red, itchy ring around my wrist for a whole week! I have had other watches with leather straps and have never had such problems. This watch is going back.
