I just received this watch about two weeks ago, and it's absolutely fantastic. To clear up some confusion, yes, you can control televisions without having to set it up with a remote. However, you need to set the watch to the correct code according to the brand (a list of brands and codes is included). I put the list in my wallet since it is pretty small, and when I see a TV, usually I have the code memorized (ex. Sony=3) but I can take out the list and set the watch. This watch is a blast when you want to confuse people at their houses or at school or a restaurant or anywhere. The reaction of some people is priceless.

This watch brings back memories. i had one when i was about 14 or 15 (15 years ago). It was the same style as this one and boy i had fun messing with people. One of my favorites was going to Worlds of fun, they have tv's on most rides with their own channel playing endlessly- i would just change the channel- causing no end of hilarity as the staff would be befuddled as to why the tv kept changing to sesame street for some reason! Seems cruel now but watching them pull out the ladder, climb up and manually change it back was awesome back then. (even they didn't have a remote for it!)

I've owned several of these. I love being able to quietly change the channels on someone elses TV - and leave them stumped as to what's going on. :) Every one I've owned has had the same problem though. After about a couple years the band dries out, cracks, and breaks. Lately, I've been taking it off before washing the dishes, or using any cleaners, which seems to make the band last longer.
This is a must-have for anyone that into gadgets, or can never find the remote.
